for everyone

0006.jpeg (800x600)
If anyone ever wondered (didn't think so) why I tend to take extra pairs of chopsticks whenever I'm at a take-out place where they're readily available... this is why.

Not specifically for potato chips (don't eat them very often), but this is a pretty good example. How else would you eat chips without breaking them or getting your hands greasy (or sticking the bag up to your face)?

Someone needs to get me a nice, re-usable, laminated pair. (Hint hint, someone Asian...)

Every time I'm at a chinese restaurant, I grab like 5 sets of chopsticks...
Is it weird that I use chopsticks to eat all kinds of things?

Mmm, salad. Salad with chopsticks? Even better!
Tasty penne pasta. What's that? Use chopsticks? Score!

Actually, I was indeed wondering that...I sorta figured it was so that if you forget to pick them up in the future, you will already have a pair readily available....or if a forgetful nameless coworker forgets his, you could loan him a pair :)

I would think savvy people would be into chopsticks as its the trendy-hey-look-at-me-i'm-cultured thing to do....maybe thats just me.

Kind of ironic since their birthright problably had more to do with hey-it's-way-easier-to-make-two-sticks-of-wood-than-a-fork.

Chopsticks are also great if I am trying to contol a portion (i.e., calories) as I know how to use them but use them much more slowly than a shovel....oooops...I mean fork.

Chopstick in the singular form works even better, if you are aiming to slow down :-)

its actually interesting. I do the same thing everytime I eat at a Chinese resto. It's kinda part of my collection and it can be a great souvenir when I eat out with friends. Weird, huh?

That's weird, doesn't the US have lacquered wooden chopsticks that are reusable, just like other cutlery? I mean, we use them all the time in Asia and my family hasn't worn down our supply of two pairs each in 12 years.

Btw, Yutopia is right, chopsticks can be used as weapons. :D

Kids in my father's generation (Gen-X) had their knuckles rapped if they didn't learn how to wield chopsticks in the proper way. -shrug-

Many places have the lacquered wooden chopsticks...they can usually be found in sit-down restaurants. These particular chopsticks came from a take-out place. Most take-out places have disposable wooden chopsticks (probably to save on cost).

Maybe your supermarkets sell lacquered wooden chopsticks?

We have disposable wooden ones too, and I usually help myself to a few more pairs after I've placed my order. lol

You can find them if you look hard enough :) I should probably obtain a pair or 2

Yep. :) I always keep two pairs in my office's pantry.
