| | I'm sure you'll agree that I had a little too much fun last night, pretending to play guitar in the shower.
It all started while reading xkcd, strip 305 in particular:

I mean, wow! That's a great idea.
I immediately checked to see if this "wetriffs.com" existed. I figured there was a pretty good chance it would, at least as a filler page of some sort, to make sure some wise-ass reader didn't snap it up and profit, or such.
Well, it did, though in its current form, only as a form for... whoa, submitting guitar-in-the-shower pictures!
I knew exactly what I had to do. But I wasn't sure how to keep my guitar out of harm's (read: water's) way.
It turned out that there's no way to tell, in photos taken with ambient lighting (and no flash) in our bathroom, whether or not the water is actually running out of the showerhead. In my test shot, I may have seen a minute amount of watery blur where the droplets should have been traveling. Or I may have imagined it. So I got a little wet and set up my camera and and tripod.
And then I learned something about my camera that I guess I just hadn't noticed over the last couple years: there's no way to set it up with a delay and burst mode. This was going to be more difficult than I thought.
But I pulled it off with 10 second delay, getting back out of the shower and pressing the shutter button manually each time. Ah well. It didn't make this any less fun.
Here are a few of my favorites.
I ended up submitting 2974, one of the first I took. I just couldn't top that one once I started trying. |
This was supposedly produced for internal use at the company and became some kind of big Internet viral thing. Amusing and surprisingly self-deprecating, but it's going to take more than this to pry my Canon from my kung fu grip. Import.flv (8.8 MB)
